Privacy Policy

Before You Begin

No website works alone. A page on the platform may be delivered by one company, protected by another, measured by a third, and may link out to dozens more. We think the outside parties involved are what most people want to know about first, so this Privacy Policy opens with them. It then describes the information itself, what we do with it, and what you can do about it.

Please keep in mind that the platform may be simpler than this document suggests. We describe registration, public contributions, analytics, and advertising because some websites have them. If the platform does not, those descriptions have no bearing on your visit.

The legal references in this Privacy Policy are also conditional. It is intended to address applicable privacy and data-protection requirements, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR and applicable UK data-protection legislation, the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), other U.S. state privacy laws, cookie and electronic communications rules, and other national, state, or regional privacy regulations, where those laws apply. Your location, the platform's activities, the information in question, and the technologies used determine which of them are relevant.

Outside Parties

We may use external providers for the following functions:

  • Hosting

  • Security services and spam-prevention tools
  • Analytics
  • Advertising

These third parties may process information in accordance with their own privacy policies and legal obligations.

Analytics providers

We may use third-party analytics services to understand how visitors interact with the platform and to improve its performance.

The platform may or may not display third-party advertisements. If it does, advertising partners and advertising networks may use advertising cookies, device identifiers, and other advertising technologies. Advertising may be contextual, personalized, or interest-based. You may have advertising choices, including opt-out mechanisms required by applicable law.

Websites the platform links to

The platform may contain links to external websites. Links are especially common in articles, press releases, directory entries, bookmarks, and listings. We do not control the privacy practices of external websites. They have their own privacy policies, and you should review those policies before providing personal information.

Advisers, authorities, and successors

Where applicable and legally permitted, information may be disclosed to professional advisers, to legal authorities, courts, regulators, and law enforcement, and to successors in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, sale, or transfer of assets.

The general public

If you submit content for public display, the public is also an outside party. Published information may be accessible to all visitors, indexed and cached by search engines, viewed by third parties, shared through external websites, and copied or redistributed outside our control. Please do not submit confidential, private, or sensitive personal information in content intended for public publication.

Sale or sharing

Some laws treat certain disclosures to outside parties as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. If activities conducted through the platform meet those definitions under applicable law, eligible users may have the right to opt out.
